Description
A delightful culinary fusion featuring the comforting flavors of classic Southern biscuits and rich, savory beef gravy, all spread over a convenient, shareable pizza crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits)
- 1 pound bulk breakfast beef sausage
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ cups whole milk, warmed
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange biscuit dough from 1 can on the parchment-lined sheet, pressing together to form a uniform rectangular crust. Par-bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and set aside; leave oven on.
- In a large skillet, brown beef sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it up. Drain excess fat, leaving 2-3 tablespoons drippings in the pan. Transfer cooked sausage to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Sprinkle flour into drippings; whisk constantly for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in warm milk, a little at a time, until smooth and lump-free. Bring to a gentle simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring, until thickened. Stir in cooked sausage, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Keep warm.
- In a medium bowl, whisk eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat until mostly set but still moist (3-5 minutes). Do not overcook. Set aside.
- Spread warm beef sausage gravy over the par-baked biscuit crust. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the gravy.
- Distribute scrambled eggs evenly over the cheese. Top with remaining shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden-brown. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh chives (if using). Slice into squares or wedges and serve hot.
