Description
Glazed pork chops with sautéed sweet apple cider and apples for a comforting autumn meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 (6 ounce) pork chops
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 medium apples, cored and sliced
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
- Sear pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned. Remove pork chops from skillet and set aside.
- Add apple cider, brown sugar, and cinnamon to the skillet. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Add sliced apples to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized. This is your sauteed apple cider mixture.
- Return pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the sauteed apples.
- Spoon the apple cider sauce over the pork chops.
- Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly. This completes the sauteed sweet apple cider glazed pork chops.
Notes
- For thinner sauce, simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
- Best apples for sauteing in cider include Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala.
