Description

Glazed pork chops with sautéed sweet apple cider and apples for a comforting autumn meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 (6 ounce) pork chops
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples, cored and sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned. Remove pork chops from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add apple cider, brown sugar, and cinnamon to the skillet. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add sliced apples to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized. This is your sauteed apple cider mixture.
  5. Return pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the sauteed apples.
  6. Spoon the apple cider sauce over the pork chops.
  7. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly. This completes the sauteed sweet apple cider glazed pork chops.

Notes

  • For thinner sauce, simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
  • Best apples for sauteing in cider include Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala.
