Ingredients
Scale
- For the Cake:
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk, room temperature
- 3 large eggs
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- For the Green Ganache:
- 2 1/2 cups (435g) white chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 8 drops green gel food coloring
- For Decorating:
- 1 cup vanilla buttercream frosting or canned vanilla frosting
- Blue gel food coloring
- Black gel food coloring
- Purple gel food coloring
- 12 white candy melts, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Spray a 6-cavity round silicone baking mold with nonstick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the chocolate cake mix, milk, eggs, egg yolk, and vegetable oil until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared molds, filling about 3/4 full. Set mold on a baking sheet and bake for 14 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in molds for 10 minutes, then release and cool completely on a wire rack set over a rimmed baking sheet.
- For the Green Ganache: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
- Add green gel food coloring and stir well until evenly distributed. Let cool for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened but still pourable.
- Coat Cakes: Pour the green ganache over the top of each cooled cake, letting it drip down the sides. Let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, then transfer to the freezer for 10 minutes until hardened. Transfer remaining ganache to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
- Prepare Colored Frostings: Add 1 cup vanilla frosting to a medium bowl with a few drops of purple food coloring and stir until evenly colored. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a medium round tip.
- Divide 1/4 cup frosting between two small bowls, color one blue and one black. Transfer each colored frosting to piping bags fitted with small round tips.
- Decorate Mike’s Features: Cut 6 white candy melts in half for ears. Set cake on a small cake board. Pipe a dollop of purple frosting on the front and press a whole white candy melt into it for the eye. Stick two candy melt halves into the top for ears. Pipe blue frosting onto the center of the white candy melt, then a smaller black dot on top to complete the eye. Pipe green ganache over the eye for the unibrow. Pipe purple frosting around the bottom edge for the mouth.
- Complete All Cakes: Repeat the decorating process with the remaining 5 cakes. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

- Ensure ganache is slightly cooled before pouring for proper coating consistency.
- Gel food coloring provides more vibrant colors than liquid.
- Cakes and ganache can be made a day ahead; decorate the day of serving.
- Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
