Description

Experience Homemade McGriddle Muffins, a delightful fusion of sweet and savory. Perfect for busy mornings and fully customizable for your family’s taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (opt for gluten-free flour if desired)
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder (check for freshness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (feel free to reduce for a lighter muffin)
  • 1 cup milk (almond or oat milk are great plant-based alternatives)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (can be replaced with coconut oil for a dairy-free treat)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (honey or agave syrup can be used as substitutes)
  • 1 pound ground sausage (try turkey sausage or veggie crumbles)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (feel free to swap in Colby Jack or Monterey Jack)
  • fresh herbs (consider adding chives or parsley)
  • berries or chocolate chips (for a sweet twist)
  • sautéed vegetables (bell peppers and onions work beautifully)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin to ensure easy removal after baking.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients by whisking the eggs, milk, melted butter, and maple syrup in another bowl.
  4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients gently until just blended.
  5. Fold in the cooked ground sausage and half the cheddar cheese.
  6. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling them about three-quarters full. Top each muffin with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes until the muffins are puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool the muffins in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
