Description

A hearty and savory Cumberland Sausage Pie featuring juicy sausages nestled in rich onion gravy, topped with golden puff pastry.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 Cumberland sausages
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 300ml beef stock
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 500g puff pastry
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Brown sausages in oil for 5-7 minutes. Remove from pan.
  2. Sauté onions in same pan until golden (5 mins).
  3. Stir in flour, then gradually add stock, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Return sausages to pan, nestling into gravy.
  5. Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Roll pastry to fit pan.
  6. Cover filling with pastry, trim edges, cut steam vents, brush with egg wash.
  7. Bake 25-30 mins until golden. Rest before serving.
