Description

This easy dill pickle chive chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken skewers marinated in a flavorful dill pickle juice and chive sour cream mixture. It’s a perfect prep-ahead meal for busy nights or entertaining, with options for grilling, oven, or air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 cup chive and onion sour cream dip
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the dill pickle juice, chive and onion sour cream dip, chopped fresh dill, chopped fresh chives, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well to create the dill pickle chive chicken marinade.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight, to allow the dill pickle chive chicken to marinate.
  4. If making skewers, thread the marinated dill pickle chive chicken pieces onto skewers.
  5. Grill the dill pickle chive chicken skewers over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
  6. Alternatively, bake the dill pickle chive chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or cook in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, until cooked through.
  7. Serve the dill pickle chive chicken hot.

Notes

  • For whole chicken breasts or thighs, marinate as directed and grill, bake, or air fry until cooked through.
  • The acid in the marinade tenderizes the chicken, making it exceptionally juicy.
  • Fresh herbs add extra flavor but are optional.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to your preference.
  • Serve with a pickle and chive dipping sauce for an extra layer of flavor.
